Well, we brought home 8 little chicks yesterday from the feed store. We bought 4 Americanas and 4 White Leghorns. They are just little puff balls.....
I had created a Coop with a shelf type of nest box against the West wall of the Alpaca barn, it is about 6' by 16' and 5' high, with a shade cloth cover, and another on the West fence to give afternoon shade.
We put the little guys in a small pet carrier with their feeder and waterer, and a desk lamp light to keep them warm...... Everything seemed Ok...... But in the morning 3 had expired.
So now they are in the house in a heavy cage sitting on newspapers, and covered with towels.
Wonder dog, and Gob kitty are just beside themselves..... They are sure they are for them to play with..... The chicks seem oblivious to the proximity of the dog or cat... They just keep on eating, drinking, pooping and sleeping...... Hopefully the rest will make it past this delicate stage.
So, more for the menagerie..... Just that much more fun. Bob
