We trimmed toenails this morning. All four Alpacas got their nails trimmed. They were pretty good about it, they had their usual initial hesitation to allow us to mess with them, but in a few minutes they were standing and allowing the hugging and petting.... Then the nail trimming was performed with only a little whining and carrying on...
Ben, the guardian dog, was fit to be tied through the whole thing. We knew enough to lock him out of the little area we use when ever we have to work on the Alpacas. But he carried on like he thought we were harming his wards....
The weather has been very nice, nippy in the mornings and short sleeves in the afternoons.
The Gardens are doing wonderfully, Jeanne just brought in a huge bowl full of various greens.
The tomatoes never got much size to them, but they are tasty just the same. The bunching onions are just getting ready for picking and the Broccoli have flourished since we transplanted the large plants into the big garden from the raised boxes where they were shading everything else. We have picked enough broccoli for meals twice since the transplanting. We received the Onion sets (about 180 of them) and planted them on the first row with the broccoli, they are already showing growth. We haven't heard from the Strawberry folks, so I don't know if we'll get any plants from them. We planted more Snow Peas, and some beans on the North end of two rows and they are sprouting like crazy.... We have really enjoyed the Snow Peas in our salads and even on their own with Ranch dip. The Lettuce in the Greenhouse are doing just great, there is plenty to simply thin out every couple of days for our salads and Taco topping.
Jeanne has been enjoying her salads at work every day.
Well, that's about it for now. It's been tree trimming time to ready them for their growth spurt in Spring. I have hauled 5 wagon loads of trimming to the South forty to dry out and then mulch in the Chipper later..... More later
