Jeanne and I worked all day Saturday, and most of the day Sunday getting things done around here in preparation for winter. We finished the long raised bed in the Greenhouse and are going to transplant the Cucumber plants into it under the Tee-Pee we made out of branches.
We fired up the Chipper/Mulcher and turned all the tree and bush trimmings into mulch to put in the new Compost Bin we created. My hands are so sore from working with all of that prickly brush that I can hardly stand them today....
The Greenhouse is now finished and ready for winter.... There are already several Tomato Plants growing, and the Greens are looking great... We found some critters eating the leaves so are looking into GREEN ways to suppress them. It got down to about 40 degrees last night, so we closed up the greenhouse after moving the Banana plant inside.
We got the Garlic and Potato starter thingys in the mail today and are going to start a Potato bed using the newspaper and hay method to grow them over the winter....
Jeanne ordered a Stainless Steel Compost starter for the Kitchen that sits on the counter. It has a charcoal filter so it won't smell. You just throw all the left over greens in there and they start composting even before you take them out to the Compost pile..... Are we GREEN or what?
Well, it is supposed to warm back up this week, but I'm guessing we have turned the corner into Fall.... and it will be nice and cool for a while before it gets really chilly. No more 100+ degrees.
I actually had to wear a sweatshirt to do chores this morning as it was just a bit nippy.
Becky got Banana (the found Chihuahua) a knitted sweater as it was getting cold and she doesn't want to go out to do her business..... Becky already ran into that problem with Piccolo so thought we'd like one for Banana.... Now she will look all spiffy in her outfit to go out and poo...
Well, I hope all of you are doing Ok, and the upcoming winter treats you nice.
