So, I go out to do some chores around the place, I'd planned to start the tractor and move the Horse trailer to clean the weeds that have overgrown the area. I stepped out to the tractor and then noticed that our huge 40 foot tall Palo Verde Tree on the North West corner of the property had broken off about 30 feet above the ground and the broken off part was blocking 204th street. Totally weird! There is no explaining it, it just broke cleanly off and fell to the ground.... If it had fallen towards the North instead of West it would have taken out the Main Phone Line for our area, and would likely have blocked the Eastbound lane of San Tan Blvd.
As it was though, I'm surprised that no one had come knocking at our door to see what we intended to do about it..... Jeanne said that it was Ok when she went to work, perhaps it fell just before I went out there. Thankfully the school kids were already gone on the school bus. Anyway, I started the little red tractor and got my 25 foot chain, and tried to drag it out of the road..... No luck! It probably weighs at least 1000 lbs and dragging it in the loose sand was impossible. The tractor was just spinning it's wheels. I was about to go get a saw to cut it into more manageable pieces when I thought about Cecil's 4 wheel dually and called him. The dually made short work of dragging the huge tree to the South 40 where we left it for cutting up at a later time. By the time we were done it was hot and we were worn out.
So, another morning without getting anything done on my Honey-do list. Perhaps this evening I can clean up the whole West side drive area with the red tractor.... Best laid plans and all that.
